Issues of Culture - Language and Learning

The purpose of this course is for students to reflect on and consider the role culture in the teaching and learning of linguistically diverse students. Students will explore how cultural differences impact all aspects of communication. Course One: May 8 - June 16, 2017. Instructor: Nate Fackler. Prerequisites: none.

Language Acquisition and Learner Development

The purpose of this course is for students to develop an understanding of the structure and nature of language and the development of the English language. Students will also learn how to integrate knowledge of language acquisition to language learners’ development and understanding of English through the use of authentic resources in the language classrooms. Course Two: June 26 - August 4, 2017. Instructor: Nate Fackler. Prerequisites: Issues of Culture - Language and Learning

Methods and Materials for Teaching EFL

This purpose of this course is for students to learn what materials to use in the EFL classroom and the approaches or methods for teaching English. A range of materials and methods will be introduced for English language learning, including student learning through active communication and interaction. Prerequisites: Issues of Culture - Language and Learning; Language Acquisition and Learner Development
