Beginner Oil Painting - Dahlonega
Dates: October 22 - November 12, 2018
Meets: M from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM

This course introduces students to oil painting techniques. Previous painting experience is not a prerequisite for this course. Color theory, linear perspective, compositional structure, visual perception, and spatial concepts will all be covered.
Supply List For Oil Painting Class
Paint: Be sure all paint tubes state oil paint-not water soluble
Titanium white
Ultramarine blue
Cerulean blue
Cadmium yellow
Cadmium red
Alizarian crimson
Burnt sienna
Burnt umber
Brushes:
Grumbacher-Gainesboro series-1271 B, Sizes 2 - 4 - 6
These are flat bristle brushes
Sable brush-round # 1 or 0 for detail work
Fan brush - bristle (optional for now)
Additional supplies:
Mixing knife - wooden handle-metal tip
Disposable palette - paper sheets
Canvas - stretched - no smaller than 11x14
Oil painting medium- # 1 or 2
Small bottle of linseed oil
Brush cleaner - Pink Soap -NO turpentine
Paper towels or old towel
Newspaper for table cover
Pen, Paper, and Eraser
For beginners, please use a picture to paint from that has been painted by someone else.
The Foster Books are excellent for this purpose and have nice paintings in them. This helps me to show you the dark and lights and the use of colors
These supplies will last for years. The instructor has oil paint that is 20 years old and is still good. Once you've purchased these basic supplies, you are set for many enjoyable paintings to come.
Supplies can be purchased at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Dick Blick or other art supply stores.
