Oil Painting - Gainesville

In this workshop, students will receive individual attention with your individual painting of choice. This class is designed for everyone, from the beginner to the advanced student. You will learn basic art, drawing, mixing paint, etc. Every student works at his or her own pace. This will be a very enjoyable learning experience.

Participant will be responsible for purchasing all supplies. They are not included in the registration fee.

Supply List For Oil Painting Class

Paint: Be sure all paint tubes state oil paint-not water soluble

Titanium white
Ultramarine blue
Cerulean blue
Cadmium yellow
Cadmium red
Alizarian crimson
Burnt sienna
Burnt umber

Brushes:

Grumbacher-Gainesboro series-1271 B
Sizes 2 - 4 - 6
These are flat bristle brushes
Sable brush-round # 1 or 0 for detail work
Fan brush - bristle (optional for now)

Additional supplies:

Mixing knife - wooden handle-metal tip
Disposable palette - paper sheets
Canvas - stretched - no smaller than 11x14
Oil painting medium- # 1 or 2
Small bottle of linseed oil
Brush cleaner - Pink Soap -NO turpentine
Paper towels or old towel
Newspaper for table cover
Pen, Paper, and Eraser

For beginners, please use a picture to paint from that has been painted by someone else. The Foster Books are excellent for this purpose and have nice paintings in them. This helps me to show you the dark and lights and the use of colors.

These supplies will last for years. The instructor has oil paint that is 20 years old and is still good. Once you've purchased these basic supplies, you are set for many enjoyable paintings to come.

Michaels or Hobby Lobby or any art store should have these basic supplies. Please purchase the brushes from Dick Blick. They are located in Roswell, but you can order them online at www.dickblick.com and they will usually arrive with three days.
